Maritime business, reported plainly. Every story linked to its publisher.

Terms of use

The rules for using onassian.com. By using the site, you agree to them.

Read, share and link freely. Don’t treat the market figures as advice. Original stories belong to their publishers, so follow our links to read them in full.

What the Digest is

The Onassian Digest is a free daily maritime business wire. Each edition gathers shipping news from other publishers, with a short summary written by our desk and a link to the original story. We also publish our own features, such as Tycoons of the Sea, and pages of market data.

Our editorial content

We work to make every summary accurate and fair to the story it points to, but a summary is not the full story. Before you rely on anything, read the original. When we get something wrong we correct it, under our corrections policy.

Links to other publishers

Headlines link to the publisher that reported the story. Those sites belong to their publishers, run under their own terms and may ask you to register or pay. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for their content, availability or privacy practices.

Market data is not advice

  • Nothing on the Digest is investment, financial, trading, chartering or legal advice, or an offer to buy or sell anything.
  • Container rates come from the Freightos Baltic Index (FBX), credited to Freightos. Equity charts come from TradingView. Quotes and indices may be delayed, revised or incomplete. Where a figure is not yet available, we say so rather than estimate it.
  • Don’t make trading or commercial decisions from these pages alone. Check the figures with the source or a qualified adviser.

Our content and yours to share

The Digest’s summaries, features, charts we draw, design, name and Plimsoll mark belong to The Onassian Digest. You’re welcome to quote a short extract with credit and a link to onassian.com, and to share links as often as you like. Please don’t republish whole editions, chapters or pages, or present our work as your own, without asking first.

Headlines and short extracts from other publishers remain theirs. We use a headline, a short summary in our own words and a link only to point readers to the original. If you are a publisher and want a link, headline or summary changed or removed, write to us and we will act promptly.

Acceptable use

  • Don’t try to break into, overload or disrupt the site or the services that run it.
  • Don’t copy the site at scale with automated tools, or in a way that places a heavy load on it. Reading our pages with a feed reader or a browser extension is fine.
  • Don’t use the contact form to send spam, automated submissions or unlawful content.

Availability and liability

We provide the site as it is and may change, pause or remove any part of it. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss that comes from using the site, from relying on its content or from a site we link to.
