Corrections policy
When we get something wrong, we fix it quickly and say so. Here is how to tell us and what we do next.
Send corrections to [email protected] with the edition date and the story. We aim to reply within two working days.
How to report an error
Email [email protected] or use the contact form and choose Corrections. Tell us the edition date, the story or chapter and what you think is wrong. A link to your source helps.
What we do
- We check the point against the original report and other primary sources.
- If our summary is wrong, we correct it on the edition page and add a dated note at the end of the item, for example: “Correction, 30 September 2026: an earlier version gave the wrong vessel size.”
- We don’t quietly rewrite. Small fixes that don’t change the meaning, such as a typo, are made without a note.
- If the error is in the publisher’s own story, we tell you so, and we update our summary if they correct it.
- If a market figure is wrong, we correct the figure and the readout that describes it, and add a note to the page.
Tycoons of the Sea
Every chapter is fact-checked by the desk before it is published, and the check’s status is shown on the series page. Corrections to a published chapter are noted at its end, with the date.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how we handled a correction, reply to our email and the editor will review it.
